It's an actual drummer by the name of Luc Heller. I think the issue you're hearing in the drums is that he's playing as if there's a bass player cementing everything together and there isn't one. It makes for an awkward sort of minimalism that I find kind of cool but I could see where it could be a turnoff.

I really want to get into Daft Punk. I tried but failed. All my friends are obsessed.

Jacques Loussier—Pulsion (1979)
I've been checking out some third stream stuff lately and that lead me to Loussier. The one other album of his that I downloaded didn't really do it for me but I dig this one quite a bit. It's just drums and piano, both played in a very minimalistic yet groovy way, and though I think some of the songs might have benefitted from some bass, it's still a terrific album.

Loussier did an album of jazz interpretations of Chopin's Nocturns that's pretty interesting. The interpretative liberties that he takes with Chopin's pieces are conservative at best and usually amounts to flatting the fifth of the scale or loosening up a run here and there, but it's still quality.

Not really interested in the outtakes and alternate recordings, but the unreleased tracks on the second disc are pretty good. I mainly got it for The Spades cover, which is phenomenal by the whey.

Sounds interesting. What's the name of the album?

Ol' Dirty Bastard - Return To The 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version
Best intro to any album hands down. The guys eratic lyrics are awesome.
