Already had a digital copy of it of course, but yesterday I found a used CD of it in a charity shop for €2. It's an old SST release as well with 'Show Me The Way' as an extra track instead of 'Just Like Heaven'. Sweet.

Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary (1994) Felt the need to start exploring some earlier emo so I figured this album was a must have. I'm liking this, the production has a nice raw feel to it and the vocals sound pained and expressive without sounding too nauseating. Some damn good songs on this such as 'Seven', 'In Circles' and 'The Blankets Were The Stairs'. Northern Picture Library - Alaska (1993) The band formed by Bobby Wratten and Annemari Davies after the break up of The Field Mice. This album has a more dream-pop sound and is more experimental and ambient compared to the more accessible indie-pop of The Field Mice. 'Catholic Easter Colours' is must say is a brilliant tune. St. Vincent - Strange Mercy (2011) Not really too impressed with this. There's some interesting instrumentation here and there but nothing really in particular grabs my attention. Doesn't seem to be as good as Actor but maybe a few more listens will reveal more.

Drop Nineteens - Delaware Pretty good, nothing ground breaking, but then apart from Loveless very few shoegaze albums were/are. Still a genre I love, so I'll be giving this a few more spins yet. Jessamine - Jessamine This, on the other hand, grabbed me immediately. Brilliant psychedelic drone. Last edited by Sneer; 09-25-2011 at 10:24 PM. |

I just purchased James Blake self titled album and I cannot stop playing it. I love his electronic soul sound. I originally couldn't stop playing Wilhelm Scream but now my favorite is Limit to your love which is a Feist remake, although I love Feist I like his rendition better, it reminds me of soul music from the 60's and 70's but with a fresh twist.

If you are looking for something that expands upon Shoegaze and still sounds unique then give True Widow a listen.
