Saint Etienne - Foxbase Alpha (1991) A band I've been meaning to get into for quite some time now. I'm loving the sound of this; dreamy, electronic pop songs sit alongside dance numbers and experimental, trippy instrumental pieces. Unfortunately I could only seem find a 128kbps rip but if anyone has a link to a better quality one that would be brilliant. http://static.boomkat.com/images/223207/333.jpg The Drones - Wait Long By The River And The Bodies Of Your Enemies Will Float By (2005) Aha now I see, there's more than one band called The Drones. I've heard a couple of tracks by the British post-punk Drones before and I thought it was that band. Anyway this the Australian indie band The Drones and is the next album going to be discussed in the Indie and Alternative Album Club so I decided to check it out. Will give my report then. |

Hooverphonic - The Magnificent Tree (2000) Found a used copy of this on CD today for only €2.99. I was looking for more good trip-hop bands and this album fits the bill pretty damn well. The music has a very night-time mood, reminiscent of Portishead at times, but the key strength here is frontwoman Geike Arnaert's smooth and impressive vocals which add a nice warmth to the music. Great stuff. Whoever had the CD before me though seemed to have glued the entire booklet together, the twat. |
