Mazzy Star - So Tonight That I Might See (1993) I like how there's a sound contrast between the guitar and the vocals, both are recorded at the perfect volume that makes them each distinguishable, even when they're playing simultaneously. The songs are a little too slow for my tastes though so I don't think it's an album I'll be returning to frequently, but a few songs will definitely worm their way into a future playlist at some point. |

Lock Up were a Funk Rock band with one Tom Morello as guitarist. Well obviously they were a different band to this one. just a useless fact for you to file away!
After watching the BBC's Heavy Metal doc for about the 5th time I thought it was time to check these out as they are in the doc even though I have never heard of them which suggested a lot to me and yes, they are certainly not deserving of being on that doc but it's still a half decent Rock album with a little Prog and Blues thrown in. Half decent melodic Post Punk from '81.

Yeah. Know of the band of the same name with Tom Morello, but have never listened to them.
This Lock Up is a Death/Grind band: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lock_Up_(UK_band) Interesting stuff if you like Grindcore. Otherwise not going to do much for ya most likely.

Listening to this as well. Tomas Lindberg is OK as the vocalist, but I preferred Peter Tagtgren, Pleasures Pave Sewers (1999) was a badass album. This one is definitely a lot more melodic than I thought it would be.
I also grabbed these two albums: Tim Hecker - Radio Amor (2003) Good ambient, electronic, drone music from Canadian artist Tim Hecker, he put out an album this year called Rave Death 1972 that is phenomenal The Horrors - Skying (2011) Pretty good post-punk/ neo-psychedelic album, definitely a step up from Primary Colours (2009), and worth it for the song "Dive In". |

I believe this is the album they're referring to in the doc that made them 'metal pioneers' or whatever it was.
