Wild Beasts - Smother (2011)
The follow-up to 2009's Two Dancers. It sounds pretty good on first listen, although I get the impression that this album is going to take a few listens to really get into, it's not as immediate as Two Dancers. One track that stands out so far is the epic closing track 'End Come Too Soon'.

Tears Run Rings - Always, Sometimes, Seldom, Never (2008)
A very good shoegaze album from a few years ago. They take some cues from Slowdive and Ride but overall this is a very beautiful and engaging album. The only thing that irks me though is the production which sounds a bit uneven in places.

I wasn't all that impressed by this album. I love shoegaze, but I really can't stand the bands that blatantly rip off other shoegaze bands. There is plenty of room for innovation in the genre, so why do it? You're right that there is a definitely Ride/Slowdive vibe...but they do it poorly.

I didn't think it was that bad. I agree that it is very derivative but it is a good enough album on it's own, I've heard a lot worse.

Fucked Up "David Comes To Life"

7 tracks in and it's amazing so far. It's a far more accessible and upbeat effort than "The Chemistry Of Common Life", but the focus on more conventional 'poppy' tunes works in the album's favor.
