I'd call Shootyz Groove more a mix of rap and hardcore.

Downloaded these from reccos in the Saturday 6 pack thread:

Because everything 6underground recommends is gold. I wish I could just pirate her entire album collection and have at it.

Because bob recommended it, and he's an awesome newer member who seems to have a taste in music that I hardly relate to at all. So it's time for some branching out.

This sounds great, added to download list.

The Roots - How I Got Over (2010)

I purchased this one while on vacation, first acquisition in a while (physical or digital). Playing it today for the first time, sounds very solid.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Candy - Whatever Happened To Fun... (1985)

Excellent power-pop release that didn't get much attention when it hit shelves due to the prevalence of hair metal at the time. Real shame too, as the songs here are pretty class.

Amesoeurs - Amesoeurs
An incredible dark, beautiful and atmospheric album of post-black metal/shoegaze/post-rock/whatever the hell you call it. This band features Neige (of Alcest) on guitar and vocals and he also shares lead vocal duties with a female vocalist called Audrey Sylvain. The female vocals really add a vital element to the music. Amazing stuff.

Various Artists - The World Comes To An End In The End Of A Journey
The Amesoeurs album also inspired me to check out this. It's a compilation made of of tracks from the following bands: Ethereal Beauty, Shyy, Heretoir, Soliness, Dernier Martyr and Dopamine. This album has some amazing stuff on it and is certainly a vital compilation to check out if you already like stuff like Alcest, Amesoeurs and Les Discrets.

Amesoeurs is the closest I have to a favorite band, and that comp is one of my favorite examples of the new found Black Metal/Shoegaze sound. Dopamine, Heretoir, and Dernier Martyr's tracks are my absolute favorites.

The compilation is very nice documentation of that sound, it covers everything from the quieter acoustic moments to almost full-on black metal and all the shoegaze-inspired stuff inbetween. That Dopamine track is incredible alright, it's nice that this compilation has an international element to it rather than just being a regional compilation.

The Amesoeurs album is amazing, did they split up or is there another album in the works? I really hope they release a another album sometime soon.
