Yup, so far I'm not sure if I like it. I figured they were great but they have kinda boring choruses. The hooks are awesome but I don't think they know how to piece them together.

It is tagged as Jazz-Funk, Electronic, Trip Hop, and Nu Jazz on rateyourmusic.com. Just started playing it now.

Don't get me wrong, I would definitely rather hear someone recreate 90s emo than what has passed for emo since then. ;)

I tried 2 different Pelican albums before this one and they both bored me to tears, but this one is really amazing. It's much less heavy and a lot poppier, and instead of focusing on crushing atmosphere that I usually fucking love, it focuses on neat little instrumentals, almost like a math rock album. at times it almost even sounds kind of Kinsella-ey, especially in the guitar work. I'm glad I was finally able to get into these guys, as I felt like I was missing out before. also the cover art is fantastic, which is usual for post-(blank) album covers.

'Stick Insect' - by Nick Beggs. A wonderful and unusual album, well worth a listen.

Generic Flipper is a great album. Props.

I just downloaded Chinoiseries by Onra. Such a great album, hip hop beats sampling Vietnamese music. Highly recommend.
