Hard to say without giving a spin right now. But I've got several rated 4-stars in my iTunes (the rest being unrated): Perlence, Simmm, fwzE, bnc Castl, and Theswere. I think generally speaking, I like (Versions) better because the songs are more developed. And on that one, Perlence Range3 seems to be my favorite. Though I'm playing Chenc9-x right now and it's equally worthy.
I just love this stuff...it makes my brain fizz.

I think it's nice to hear extended versions of my favourite songs. IO was my absolute favourite and Tankakern was a close second. Now that I can hear them as eight minute epics it's kind of nice.
Autechre is an especially brain-fizzy band. It's almost as if the music is a shape that's trying to fit into a mold, yet it's physically impossible, so it contorts itself into various permutations of itself, and it still struggles, then it glitches and flashes until it dies. I'll see what's up with quaristice.quadrange.ep.ae. I'm curious. Last edited by Dayvan Cowboy; 11-27-2010 at 03:42 PM. |

now that I think about it, I just partially described the Gantz Graf video.
Also, the Maserati album is good, but nothing that would steal the #1 spot from my favourite album of 2010. It's also a lot more electronic, and less repetitive. I liked the repetition, though |

It makes my brain go *bleep*.
I couldn't make much of it, to be honest. Glad you both enjoy it

Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 - Strangers from the Universe (1994) I've only heard Lovelyville by this very creative, quirky alternative/experimental band and since I've been listening to it a lot, it was about time I hear another album. This appears to be more accessible and very good so far. Not much Feller-filler here (not sure if that's a good or a bad thing )

Autechre is definitely not a band for everybody. At times, they can be very melodic, like on the albums Tri Repetae and Amber: While these tracks are catchy, they are not Autechre's best. Personally, I think they're cool, but at times it's a little too sweet, but I still enjoy them quite a bit. Eventually, they got less melodic, especially on Chiastic Slide and LP5 onwards. I prefer them when they're a little more complex. Complex music is rewarding |

I wouldn't listen to either of them at home, but at least the other stuff is interesting to listen to. I am usually bored really quickly with catchy, happy music. It doesn't neccesarily has to be weird or strange for me, but it has to be original in some way and not too simple. I guess autechre is just a bit too complex for me, or complex in a different way. I mean, I like jazz that no one seems to understand .
