yeah i can agree with that....but i feel like every time i listen to 'Love of Life' and or 'White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity' i feel that together they are much better and should have been released as a double lp :)

honestly my favorite era would be the Greed/Holy Money era

I just can't choose which album would I say is their best, mostly because I cannot compare their brutal phase to their later one. And I love them both. That's why I always suggest to people 'Children of God' as a starting point to Swans, not because it's the best album (I personally love Holy Money and Greed a bit more), but because, as bob. said, it's a crossroad in a way and it perfectly represents many sides of the band.

Of all their releases and side projects, I'd say my personal favorite is definitely SKIN - Shame, Humility, Revenge

I can definitely see where you'd say that especially since the album covers make them seem like a pair. White Light, though it's still a great album, is definitely the lesser of the two in my opinion. It's way less musically diverse and it has one of their worst songs on it ("Failure").

yeah i have to agree 'Failure' is one of their more boring and almost even "typical" songs....but its cropped right in between two great songs "Love Will Save You" and "Song For The Sun"

Hate to burst the bubble of enthusiasm, but so far "Soundtracks" has been really "bleh"...

I agree, those are two truly fantastic songs.

16 Horsepower - Olden (2003)

Their final album

isn't this album kind of a mix match of alternate takes of previous released stuff?....either way 'American Weeze' is one of my all time favorite songs....it just makes my blood boil in so many good ways

weird...when it comes to the SKIN albums i actually find 'Blood, Women, Roses' to be much more appealing :)

i just don't think that 'Soundtracks' should be the judging album of the band....it is the only album that sounds like that

Hey, maybe it's not so weird. Speaking of Jarboe, Sacrificial Cake is a masterpiece, I almost forgot how much I loved that album, even more than Gira's Drainland.
