Cynic - Re-Traced (2010)

An EP of "reimagined" tracks from their last album, Traced in Air (2008) but done in a progressive rock/electronic fashion. It actually works really well but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of metalheads out there hated it because the band has practically abandoned their death metal sound for something far more accessible. Either way if you're a fan of Porcupine Tree then this is definitely an EP to check out.

<code> - Nouveau Gloaming

Very interesting black metal album that I slept on. At times it feels like it's just your typical BM album and then it just kicks your ass till you're wearing it for a hat.

Ikuinen Kaamos - The Forlorn

Opeth worshipers first and foremost but they at least understand what it is they are ripping off and do a first rate job at it. This gets a tentative nod if you're into Opeth.

Deathspell Omega - Paracletus (2010)

Well someone just happened to leave a link in my e-mail and I decided to test to make sure it wasn't a virus or anything, and the files just happened to copy to my hard drive and open up in Winamp, then my chair restricted my movement and I could not plug my ears so I was forced to hear it. I have to say, despite the fact that I'm sickened with hearing a leaked copy I can say that it is an amazing album and by far the group's best work. If you are interested in some good French Black Metal that isn't the shoegaze stuff, this is a band to check out.

It's been posted twice in the last 2 pages, so it must be good. If I am become disappoint, you will hear from my words.

Just keep in mind this is the "last album you bought or downloaded" thread, not the "albums you're digging" thread. :D

v/a - Florida Funk: 1968-1975

This one's a little bit disappointing compared to the other funk comps I've gotten lately. Maybe I'm just not in the mood or it's not the right time of day. I'll keep it in rotation. Midwest Funk: Funk 45's From Tornado Alley, from the same series on Now-Again Records, seems much better.

It's my favorite Albarn music that I've heard.

Yeah, I can see that happening with me as well. Definitely one I can see myself coming back to a lot in future. I've only listened to it once, but that's only because I'm making a conscious effort to give all the albums I've already got and/or just downloaded out of some weird mental compulsion a go.

Talking of which...

I'm in the minority, but I still say that I can't stand any of MF Doom's material.

so yeah i haven't been around much lately, but i stopped by to shout about this:

Ilhan Ersahin - Istanbul Sessions with Erik Truffaz
http://cdn.7static.com/static/img/sl...770001_350.jpg

unbelievable and utterly unique modern jazz. Ersahin is best known for leading Wax Poetic, and Truffaz, well, he's just the best trumpet player in the world. this release keeps the sultry turkish dnb+sax jazz sounds of Wax Poetic and adds some magic from Truffaz.

if you have ears, then you will probably dig this :D

You're right. That sounds really cool, like Mulatu Astatqé meets Jah Wobble.
