That's quite odd.

Yup, NIN's Downward Spiral to Bear vs. Shark.

How come you use user lists as opposed to charts? I find the charts offer a general consensus, though music is the most subjective thing in the world. So some stuff that's rated low 3.00s is still a great listen.

I'm often more interested in finding obscure gems rather than the same old top of the list stuff I've been aware of for years. I may not have yet heard that top of the list stuff yet, but I'll get around to it in time. And I've somewhat become accustomed to ignoring certain albums just because they're always in your face. I'm not one to think just because it's popular it's bad, obviously. But at the same time, a lot of popular stuff doesn't fit my tastes. And the fact is, the well-known albums have thousands of ratings, many from people who only listen to stuff that's well known. On the flip side, an obscure album can have a rating of 5 because only one fanatic rated it. :p:

I've been going down the charts. Excluding those I've already rated, so if I've rated the top 25 Alternative Rock albums, I'll give the 26th a listen.
I prefer to work my way down the list, RYM seem to be bang on with their ratings.
I find the charts to be a really great way of finding top music.
I found Fugazi's Argument because of the charts.
I knew the name, but had never heard their stuff or anything about them.
Which reminds me, I need to get a second album by them.
I'll try and avoid my 13th rated album to be one you own ;)

Nah it's totally cool that I saw 12 in a row that I owned! :D No worries.

I guess I just like to pick and choose a bit more rather than making sure I've heard the top (#) albums from a specific genre. I have too many wishlist albums (not on RYM) for me to do that...I check out what's piqued my interest in one way or another and I've added to the list.

Pia Fraus - After Summer
There's some good songs on this album, but for the most part you can't help feel that you've heard it all before. There's not enough here really to distinguish them from being another MBV clone but at the same time the songs are well done and it's a nice album to listen to. They just need that bit of originality to set themselves apart.

I think they have a lot more originality than most shoegazers. They use some of the same little tricks MBV uses, but I felt they were far from clones. This is like twee-gaze if you ask me. I love it.

It's alright. I think it's a pretty decent indie/pop rock album.
