Cloudkicker - Beacons (2010) It's OK, a little uninspired but good to throw on in the background while gaming or reading or studying. He's not exactly pushing the envelope for progressive metal, but it's functional. Swallow the Sun - New Moon (2009) I've heard a lot of good things about this album, and if it plays out like their debut did back in 2003, it will be a great listen. This is a band that understands how to make some good Death/Doom metal. Necrophagist - Onset of Putrefaction (1999) Apparently a hidden gem for progressive death metal. |

Aside from DLing the aforementioned EP: I also got Robert Johnson - The Complete Recordings I listened to Mississippi John Hurt earlier in this week, and upon allowing that to sink in, I must say that his overly-folk/embracing sound made me both enjoy it and dislike it. I'm hoping that this album sounds far more bluesy, as that's the expectation I went into MJH with. Not that it wasn't good, though. I'm just hoping for something a bit different in this release. |
