I just got Stanley Turrentine's The Return of the Prodigal Son. I absolutely love it. After a few listens, it really gets stuck in your head. In a review written in the little notes thing inside the cover, the writer says that although the sound is somewhat mainstream, it is an expert sound at that.
"You stop faulting the context--so what if they are 'commercial'--because that sound gets into your blood and you want to keep hearing it. And thanks to recordings like these, you still do.(6)" -Donald Elfman, 2008 Page 6, FYI, is also the last page not including the back cover. |
