Great album. Not terribly original but still a great album. STAR and Starflyer 59 are highly recommended too.

Ice Cube—Lethal Injection Not bad but not really anything to write home about either. It feels very much like a lazy album to me: very little of the fire of the previous album remains and Cube's rapping seems kind of half-assed, like he banged out the vocals in a weekend or something. |

Quite the haul for you there sidewinder. I actually picked up Arcwelder's debut, Jacket Made in Canada earlier this week and loved it. I think I might check out Everest and then decide whether or not it's worth hunting down the rest of their discography.
My latest haul was this little gem: Aydio - Nonentity (2010) I apologize for the small album artwork, I can't find anything bigger on Google. Aydio is a downtempo DJ from London who I found last year when someone sent me his debut EP, Deltitnu. I'm not as familiar with the distinguishing characteristics of electronic music but his last.fm profile has him listed as dub and ambient, but I've also heard him described as chillout. I posted some of his stuff in the Trip-Hop thread, but it's not exactly the trippist of trip-hop. Still he's definitely worth a look if you're after some new music to put on while you're reading or need some new background noise. |
