Weekend acquisitions continued (2):
Medications - Completely Removed This is the math-rock/post-hardcore band featuring members of Faraquet and Smart Went Crazy, just found out they had a new album! Excitement! I thought they were done after their one LP in 2005. Plone - For Beginner Piano A 1999 Warp Records release that I've never heard. Chill IDM, from what I gather, probably having some in common with Plaid's sound from what I gather, but I could be wrong. Yukon - Mortar Baltimore, MD math-rock band from what I gather. Seems pretty obscure as I can't find a large image that's not linked from a blog (meaning it would probably not show up).

I enjoy it but I don't hold it up like the jewel encrusted, cancer curing, baby hair tustling masterpiece that others do. In fact I've actually made the claims that it feels more like the sounds I'd expect after sleep deprivation as opposed to a dreamlike atmosphere that shoegaze is suppose to evoke. Still though it's an impressive piece of work, which it should be if it did indeed cost 250,000 quid to make.

I got their album Sweet Drunk Everyone recently and liked it as well. Only played once so far though.

The dubstep vs. electro thread sent me on a tangent exploring, once again, the whole dubstep/2-step genre. A lot of it I hate, but this guy's been on my list for a while. I still don't know why I hadn't picked this album up sooner.

Another one I grabbed over the weekend, didn't post earlier because it wasn't on my portable digital music player. This person is the same as Aleksi Perälä (birth name under which he also records) and Ovuca. I think everything he has released has been on Aphex Twin's label, Rephlex, including two great releases under his own name at the beginning of this year. This one dates back to 2002.
