Well good choice with the headphones (I'm going to assume you'll be listening to it on your iPod or something). Um other than that have fun and enjoy the ride. I really hope the hype doesn't kill it for you though, I know I really enjoyed that album, but there are plenty of albums out there that are widely praised by everyone and I'm left thinking that a bowl of mushy peas would have been better.

Another question... how did you find that post? Seriously I got that album like 9 or 10 months ago!

Fela Kuti - Expensive Shit

I know, I should have had this a long time ago. I'm listening right at the moment and it sounds pretty great so far.

Yeah, I listened to it with good headphones and I did really enjoy the album. I'll need to hear it again though because I was a little inebriated on the walk. In fact, my dog tried to bolt after another dog and we both went tumbling - that probably wouldn't have happened if I was sober. This also explains how I found your post - the idea of listening to Cobalt popped into my head because I often get a craving for black metal on hot nights for some reason. Then I remembered your rave reviews/mentions of the album from way back (and your Gin avatar) so I did a search just so I could reference one of your posts about it - another thing that I probably wouldn't have bothered with if I was completely sober.

Lately I'm really digging the way Americans are bending and stretching the definition of Black Metal and Gin is another example of this I guess. I don't think I've heard any metal album that sounds like it - and I can see why it's well loved. I definitely see more Cobalt in my future

I decided to see what was lurking in my recent downloads folder.
This is all the stuff I seem to have acquired over the past few weeks.
Some are old favourites I used to have on vinyl, some are obscure singles & EPs I could never get at the time, some are to plug gaps in discographies, some are just stuff I came across that looked interesting.

Nuisance - Confusion Hill
Snuff - Snuff Said / Tweet Tweet My Lovely
Black Box Recorder - Passionoia
The Servants - Disinterest + some singles & EPs
The Teardrop Explodes - Bunch of singles & EPs
Dio - Holy Diver
Zounds - The Curse Of Zounds
Reagan Youth - A Collection Of Pop Classics
King Diamond - Abigail / Them / Conspiracy
Extreme Noise Terror - Peel Sessions
Old Time Relijun - Songbook Volume 1
Huggy Bear - Taking the Rough With the Smooch + some singles & EPs
Flying Saucer Attack - Bunch of singles & EPs
Pansy Division - Undressed / Deflowered / I Wish I'd Taken Pictures
Broadcast - Haha Sound
Suffocate For fuck Sake - Blazing Fires and Helicopters
Mercyful Fate - Don't Break The Oath
Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow
BLK JKS - After Robots
Fly Ashtray - Clumps Take a Ride
Moss Icon - Lyburnum Wits End Liberation Fly
Blood Sausage - Happy Little Bullshit Boy / Touching You in Ways That Don't Feel Comfortable / Deniss Lavant
14 Iced Bears / S/T
Jello Biafra & NoMeansNo - The Sky Is Falling and I Want My Mommy
Blyth Power - Paradise Razed
Skeptics - Sensible

And also a Finnish compilation from the late 80s called 'If It Ain't the Snow, It's the Mosquitos' which includes a fantastic acapella cover version of Motorhead's Ace Of Spades by a man who is clearly a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

And any day now I should have arriving in the post...

Diamond Head - Live At The BBC
Old Time Relijun - La Sirena de Pecera

...and I also came across around 25 Public Image Ltd bootlegs.

Machine Drum - Want to 1 2?

Been meaning to get this for a while, and the recent mention made me do it!

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.
