Tortoise - Tortoise (1994)

When I hear talk about this being better than Slint's Spiderland then I just gotta check it out for myself to see what it's all about.

Hmm I've never heard talk of it being better than Spiderland. I think they're vastly different albums and don't really see why they'd be compared. I've only played that Tortoise album a couple times but didn't really find it memorable.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I was so disappointed with this album and they have kind of fallen by the wayside which is usual for British guitar bands over the last ten years but their debut is still kick ass and has attitude in abundance. It's nothing spectacular musically but it's energy and vibrancy stands head and shoulders above many bands releasing debut albums around that time in the U.K. Fake tales of San Fransisco still get's a lot of airplay from me and those lyrics are class.

I agree with this. I didn't think Favourite Worst Nightmare was terrible or anything but if I listen to the Arctic Monkeys it's always that album that I'm putting on. They kind of lost a... vibrancy, though there are some songs on FWN that I like a lot. And Fake Tales of San Francisco is my favorite song on the album

I could never garner too much enthusiasm for the Arctic Monkeys, I'm sorry to say, not to say they aren't good, they just don't appeal to me, t'is all...

Got this queued up to download as I speak...

Kid Loco - A Grand Love Story

Listened to the first few tracks and was impressed (Relaxin' with Cherry, in particular...), so decided to download it all and see if the rest measures up

Thanks for the heads up! I really like that track too, so I'll be sure to listen to that album as well.

Just picked this up.
