Epstein y El Conjunto - When Man Is Full He Falls Asleep

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

Downloading now through Amazon. Epstein is Roberto Carlos Lange, a Florida-born son of Ecuadorean immigrants. He records as Boom & Birds, Helado Negro, and several other names, and has collaborated with Prefuse 73 on his latest album as well as the latest Savath & Savalas album. His music (what I have heard, at least) is basically organic Latin-influenced instrumental hip-hop/glitch-hop/downtempo. Haven't heard this one yet, only found out about it this morning. The album features a collaboration with School of Seven Bells and one with Jason Trammell of Yeasayer.

Quote:

When Man is Full He Falls Asleep, a hazy dreamscape of bass, beats, and gloriously washed-out electronics. Like Lange's work in Asthmatic Kitty act Helado Negro, there's an organic playfulness to these songs, each looping, synth-pulsing, head-noddin', tape-collage evocative of things like drowsy afternoons DJing vinyl records for yourself, sleepy mornings with coffee and Wu-Tang on the Walkman, and sweaty summer block parties in Lange's current homebase of Brooklyn.

That sounds like something I'd absolutely love. I'll have to check him out.

M83 - Dead Cities, Red Seas, and Lost Ghosts. Electronic dream-pop. With a bonus disc!

Boom Bip & DoseOne - circle. Premier experimental hip-hop from 1999. The booklet w/ printed lyrics helps me make sense of some of the nonsense.

Is that one of Niege's (alcest) side-groups? Cover is sick!

hmmm, i should probably curb my use of double negatives. I know it was a poor way of phrasing it but i wasn't unimpressed or particularly impressed at the time, sorry about that, i'm terrible at expressing myself :). I still haven't made up my mind on it, so i'll have to give it another spin.
