The Replacements—Let It Be: Good stuff. I have to admit it's kind of at odds with the musical moods I've been in lately but I can tell I'm going to enjoy it a lot when I'm in the right mood for it. Health—Get Color: I've only listened to this one a couple times but it seems like a great album. Looking forward to giving it more of a listen. Esperanza Spaulding—Esperanza: Saw one of her concerts on PBS the other night and was totally blown away by her bass playing and singing so I immediately downloaded this. Unfortunately, like a lot of jazz musicians, she really loses something in the studio setting and her music winds up too smooth jazz sounding for my tastes. Chick Corea—Now He Sings, Now He Sobs: I saw this recommended by Satchmo in some thread and it caught my eye because I had been looking for a good place to start with Chick Corea. Great album! I'm looking forward to giving it some more in-depth listens. |

4 tracks, the last one being 38 minutes long can only mean one thing-PROG ROCK! but it's Japaneses with a bit of Can, a bit of noise and a healthy lack of over indulgence. Solid stuff. U.K melodic Punk that i have never heard of but then they were only around for just over a year (76/77). Not bad at all. Starflyer 59. Melodic shoegaze. Some average and some really good tracks. Worth at least a listen if it's your bag. New Alcest. Not had a chance to spin it yet though.

Amon Tobin - Kitchen Sink (Remixes) EP
I don't know why I didn't know about this sooner...it features remixes from two of my favorite producers, Clark and Sixtoo. Possibly because I generally don't pay attention to remix EPs unless they contain unreleased tracks. The other two mixes are from Noisia (who I'm unfamiliar with) and Boxcutter (who I also like). I enjoyed them all, and on first listen the Noisia one may have actually stood out the most.

Julian Cope - "You Gotta Problem With Me" ... very cool
Bob Dylan - "Highway 61 Revisited" original mono ... very cool and surprisingly different
