She Wants Revenge - She Wants Revenge

The musicianship is pretty minimal but the songs are surprisingly dark.

Bought on Saturday for a three spot. Not the best compilation ever but great to have some of her music on hard copy. Sinnerman is such a fantastic track.

Mclusky - Mclusky Do Dallas

My Mom came to visit and she bought me some albums

Aphex Twin - Richard D. James Album
Finally got the whole thing. I think Milkman was the first Aphex Twin song I ever heard years ago on a David Firth animation.

Jay Reatard - Singles 06-07
It came with a live DVD which is always a bonus.

These guys were playing at Lollopalooza in 2006 and I heard them playing while I was waiting for Queens of the Stone Age to come on. I wasn't too impressed...kind of Interpol rip offs from what I heard (who are, in turn, Joy Division rip offs).

I do have a soft spot for Interpol, though.

"Humbug" - Arctic Monkeys. "Crying Lightning" is one hell of a single. That and "Wild Young Hearts" by the Noisettes. Similarly, a very strong album with a great single, "Never Forget You".

Strongly reccomend both, though they couldn't be any more dissimilar stylistically.

Grabbed these on cd:

Kenny Barron and Regina Carter - Freefall

Got this mainly cause I enjoy Kenny Barron immensely, but Carter is excellent on violin here as well. Piano + violin can sound so haunting on here at times, but also quite exciting in others. Very cool all around.

Emir Kusturica and the No Smoking Orchestra - Unza Unza Time

Had to pick this up after seeing it mentioned in a couple different spots on MB, and then hearing a song by them on the Feb comp. Extremely fun and also noisy, and just loaded with bright brass sounds. This album just f*cking rocks.

Chansons Et Musiques Des Films Noirs

Actually came across this by accident, but it was cheap and I liked the cover so I snagged it. Some slow, moody theme songs like you'd expect, but also some tunes that are more upbeat that sound like Sinatra would maybe sing if he was french. Not too bad.
