I kinda enjoy a lot of music, but I think most of those artists who can't do anything but shake their stupid ..tts on the stage are DETRIMENTAL. When I look back to the music made in 70's and even the 80's and I look at the crap we're served as music nowadays I just feel like screaming. Maybe some here are a bit too opinated when they're coming against mainstream music, but I think good music should be also promoted, and unfortunately it's not the case

I listen to quite a bit of pop music, that is also more passionate and isn't as disposable. Come by my thread http://www.musicbanter.com/showthread.php?t=16260 or ask me for recommendations (i have plenty), as long as I don't get called a hipster or whatever names you guys like to throw out.
I really don't like our pop forum here. I've said it a couple times, but that forum is predominantly threads involving easy targets for people to come in and raise their post counts. Going into a thread and insulting Avril Lavigne...why bother? I made a Blondie thread in there a while back, I don't think it turned out so well b/c the majority was preoccupied bashing some hollywood idol. Honestly, if I were to post about artists like Katie Melua or Sarah McLaughlin, etc., I'd just come to the general music forum, it'd get more of the proper attention.

why?
If Ashlee Simpson makes a good catchy pop tune why shouldn`t people say they like it. You make it sound like it`s a new thing that people come along singing chart friendly pop songs that they didn`t write. Elvis did the same thing you know.

I don't like most of pop's motive. It makes me sick when people don't give a spit on music and only care about money. I'd be damn nieve if I thought there weren't money driven bastards signed to indie labels. They just seem to care a little more about writing seeing how they havent "made it" yet.

Why blame pop for that.
Hip hop & rock music is just as bad for that.

The rock and hip hop you hear on radio stations are the water downed version of their genres and pop is the even more water downed bands. I'm sorry I can't support a genre that is solely driven by sensationalism. Other genres have their cases of such but that's what pop is, writing songs that the general public will like so people will buy your album.

I think you`ll find that pop has been more traditionally singles based rather than album based.
Thats why there are so many one hit wonders around.
