ok, just got both again
The Sonics aw, you have got to be kidding me - this is just like a jumped Dave Clark 5, nothing proto-punk about this, adding fuzz to the guitars and playing at breakneck speed doesn't make you "punk" The Monks this is more like it - reminiscent of the Nuggets garage bands, there is some cool experimentation, and overall, the structure of the songs are much better than the above so:- Monks - 4 Sonics - 5 |

The Sonics scrape that one 5-4. Next up courtesy of Electrophonic Tonic sitting up there in the twilight zone are these two acclaimed modern day hip-hop albums. Take a few lines explaining your choice when voting.

Dalek hands down. El-P's solo work is great, and if Fantastic Damage had been chosen as the representative, it may have been closer. But Absence is, along with Liquid Swords, my favourite hip hop album. It just blows my mind.

Dalek
the way the words come out is pretty good, but what's with the post-rock/post-metal backdrop? it obfuscates the beats, he or they should have used choppy guitars El-P this is more like it, mostly electronica, nice flow as well, and even the rockist songs dn't obscure the beat like Dalek Dalek - 1 El-P - 1 |

Voting for the Dalek album. I'm more associated with his work, and Absence is easily one of my favorite hip hop albums... The EL-P album was interesting, but it didn't really catch me off guard like the Dalek album did, nor was I able immerse myself into its music like I did with the other.
