After checking out St. Vincent - Actor I must say that it is a very enjoyable and wonderfully off-beat album. However it doesn't quite touch on the dark and otherworldly atmosphere of Fever Ray's awesome self-titled. Fever Ray wins this round for me.

Actor hands down. It was one of my favorite 2009 albums, it's so dynamic, loud and noisy, yet her angelic voice and great arrangements appearance gives it great contrast. I never could get into the Fever Ray album so...

Looks like we're not going to get any more votes so St. Vincent wins 2-1.
Next battle, courtesy of Il Duce: The Specials - The Specials (1979) VS. The (English) Beat - I Just Can't Stop It (1980) "Both cornerstones in the 2-tone 2nd Wave of Ska movement, do you prefer the purism of The Specials or the mixture of Britpop and other elements of the English Beat?" - Il Duce Get voting folks and don't forget to give a reason for your vote!

The English Beat`s real name is actually The Beat (most people from the UK will only know them as The Beat) These two bands were probably the best of the Ska movement and The Specials debut the better album of the two. Despite that "Mirror in the Bathroom" is a great song with a fantastic beat!

^^ yeah but for the rest of the world, there is already a The Beat and they were American
The Specials' debut for me also, just more well-rounded, although that Beat album is rather more diverse, it has just that much more filler... The Specials 2 The English Beat 0 |

The Specials - 3
The English Beat - 0 Reason: The Specials' album is really solid with some great singles. My copy of that Beat album is scratched to hell, therefore I'm spiteful. |
