Devo - 1
The Cars - 3

Devo was kind of a fad.

Devo - 1
The Cars - 4

Devo is ok, but they don't even come close to The Cars for me.

Cars 5 Devo 2

The songs on Devo's debut aren't really memorable, besides the singles and the Stones cover.

This against the Cars, which had the strongest debut. If only they had "Since You've Been Gone" on that debut, then it would be in my Top Ten albums of all time.

I hope by stating "two of the best albums ever recorded", that you mean by the bands Devo & The Cars themselves, and not comparing these two albums to the standard or quality of recording by other bands and artist.

The Cars had this one wrapped up before it began, as far as that goes. It seems like an easy choice to me, The Cars. (I never really cared that much for either band personally, they both get irritating and monotonous after listening to a few of their songs at any one given time). But that's just me.

I`m certainly comparing these two albums to any other albums in the history of rock and if I were to draw up a list of the greatest 100 albums ever recorded these two albums would certainly get into my top 40!

I`m more than happy to debate this one with you and take you the full 12 rounds mate!

Then let the games begin! (Although, I believe that you are out of your league here Solider). Can you hang with the Big Dogs?

Name one album by Steely Dan that doesn't blow everything done musically in the studio by Devo or The Cars.

I`ve never been a huge fan of Steeley Dan but I do think "Can`t Buy a Thrill" "Countdown to Ecstasy" "Aja" to be very good albums and "Pretzel Logic" to be their best. I actually think Toto, Journey and Boston for example to be better bands from that era when it comes to that kind of soft to mid rock sound. But I`d certainly say Steeley Dan were definitely better than the Doobie Brothers or Chicago.

I wouldn`t actually compare Steeley Dan to either the Cars or Devo as its a completely different sound, but in answer to your question I think the Cars and Devo albums to be better than Steeley Dan`s best.

Apologies to Zero for taking this thread off topic.

Journey, Boston, etc. were defiantly a mainstream band when compared to Steely Dan's record sales, etc. (Boston is one of the best produced albums of all-time), in my opinion too. At least, that is my first perception on the subject.
As far as Devo or the Cars having anything done in the studio, that would be considered better than Donald ***en and Walter Becker is totally preposterous in my opinion. ***en and Becker are very well esteemed as being one of the best duo studio producers. Pretzel Logic is one of my favorite albums by Steely Dan as well, it is just as original and well produced today as it was back in '74. (So..I win the first round Soldier! ). Just kidding, lets call it a draw..Although I'm right!
