i don find anything exceptional about Maxinquaye cept for the Public Enemy cover

Tricky's New Millenium Tension is infinitely better than his debut

Both albums are great but I prefer Maxinquaye. Although I enjoy Dummy and it has a really nice flow to it, it never quite managed to live up to my expectations. Maxinquaye is a little bit more interesting, engaging and has a nice trippy feel to it. The reworking of 'Black Steel' is mind-blowing and 'Brand New You're Retro' is a really great track as well. Last but not least: Martina Topley-Bird + Alison Goldfrapp > Beth Gibbons.

Chumley: Zero1986 is running this and the Tricky/Portishead war is still open so I have removed your post. If you have a pair of albums to suggest, PM it the person running the thread and he'll post it when there's an opening.

I guess Portishead win 3-2 then.

I'll have to come up with another one myself since I've none lined up:

Big Star - #1 Record (1972)

VS

The Replacements - Let It Be (1984)

Again don't forget to explain your choice.

Also if you wish to nominate the next pair please send me a PM with your nomination,

No contest!

Let It Be 1 #1 Record 0

it might be a fairer deal if you picked Third/Sisters Lovers
