i figured this was an obvious vote. i guess not that many people have actually listened to the actual Master of Puppets song.
as for the passing 'phase' it's going on 20 years of listening to the band and i was listening/playing to some more earlier this afternoon (GH Metallica) |

Hard call really, IV has the classics, II a hard rock classic written on the road and III best LED ZEP A-side ever and a folky B-Side.....Despite all this I is my overall favourite.

I don't skip any of the songs on IV. As in yeah I even like Misty Mountain Hop.
I think HOTH and IV are tied for most consistant Zep albums, III would be perfectly consistant if it weren't for the last track and PG would be if it weren't for side 4. |

A good way of looking at it. I always think of PG as the third or fourth best double album of all time just behind or equal to the White Album, Mellon Collie..... and the best being Electric Ladyland. PG like most double albums of the era has a huge amount of experimental stuff and self indulgence on it.

But like I said PG would be perfect if they got rid of side 4, there's nothing I dislike from the other sides.
Zep I's big duffer is Your Time is Gonna Come which pretty much defines the meaning of the word filler and Zep III's is Hats off To Roy Harper. I agree with most that Moby Dick is the worst on Zep II with the overlong drum solo but the riff is kickass, and yeah I know that riff is taken from Watch Your Step by Bobbie Parker and every band in the 60s stole that riff so STFU hatahs. And Thank You and Living Loving Maid are not as awesome as the other songs. In retrospect I find Presence (the one I always forget about) to be a consistantly solid album throughout, I consider it the lesser of their good albums but Candy Store Rock is the only track I tend to skip. Presence I find bland but "Achilles Last Stand" is special and still one of my fav Led Zep songs. |
