Well, that is quite the relief!

I was reminded today of Anvil being the most underated metal band of all time, apparently the Story of Anvil Documentary is very interesting, funny and tragic, they spend their careers rubbing shoulders with the biggest names in metal but just don't seem to ever make it big time

Has anyone seen it?

I know most kids today aren't into older rock, but I am. And Twisted Sister is one of the most underrated bands ever. People give them credit for I Wanna Rock and Were Not Gonna Take It and thats it When if people would take time to listen to the full album, they would see they have a lot of killer songs.

Though "We're Not Gonna Take It" has to be one of the best rebellion songs of all time by the sheer weight of its chorus alone....

I've seen it. It is a very good film yes. You can't help but feel sorry for them, as the reason the suddenly began to fail in the big time metal scene was down to **** management. Any ideas when they are releasing a new album?

Coroner-Maybe more unknown than under-rated.Fantasic musicianship and really original. One of the true pioneering thrash bands of the 80s.A 3 piece outfit that have been called the Rush of thrash metal.I suppose thats a reference to their use of unusual rhythms and technicality. How this band never got huge I will never know

Horse The Band-Usually dismissed as Mallcore/Nintendo?Hot Topic music,I think they are brilliant. One of the few bands that know how to use a synthesizer.A band I never get sick of even though I'm not really into the Nintendo scene.I may be the oldest person in the world who loves HTB

Cradle of Filth-Yea I said it start flaming me.I wont make the mistake of trying to pigeon-hole them into one category.I love Cradle.I can understand peoples dislike of them.No they are not black metal.People who love Cradle love them and dont really care if others dont.I admit, they have some material I dont like that much, but thats any band. They have a sense of humor and dont take themselves too seriously, which I respect. Its supposed to be over the top and excessive, and thats the whole point.I get sick of bands playing out being evil and dark all the time, nobody is like that in real life.

Let The Flames Begin...
Because I already know alot of people despise COF-and I dont care

There are alot of well known bands being mentioned here, well known bands just simply can't be one of the "most underrated bands ever" because the most underrated ones are the ones that are very talented and very unknown at the same time.

For me it goes to Virgos Merlot, I first heard them many years ago and it was love at first listen, the little success that these guys have had makes me sad just thinking about it.

Vanishing Point is another favourite of mine that is very underrated.

Galaxie 500 is so simplistically perfect, it's a miracle they're not more popular.

Symphony X

Theyre a prog rock band in line with DragonForce and Dream Theatre but they are definitely under rated. They found their singer at Midevil Times (a place here in southern california where you can go watch real life jousting, full armor and all, and feast on birds) And they have who I believe is a very underrated guitar player named Michael Romeo. The whole band rips but they dont get enough credit.
