Incubus? The band with 1.2 million listeners on last.fm that got almost constant radio play back in their heyday? The band which still resides at around the 40th most popular band on last.fm? One of the ****tiest bands in existence? They'd be on my overrated list.

Sorry boobs, but there's no way in hell that Incubus is underrated. I see BOC get a lot of love from just about every classic rock fan too.

Gee they have fans, well, so does every band. They're also one of the most unfairly judged classic rock bands and are lumped in with crap like Foreigner and Journey when they shouldn't be. They're very much underrated.

I'm not really taking the opinions of classic rock fans into account here. At least in internet communities like this one, they're very much a minority.

boobs i think you're a bit lost on what constitutes "underrated". when the general public is exposed to them on a daily basis there's no fucking way they're underrated.

Wrong.

Overrated and overexposed are indeed quite different definitions.

A band can be overexposed, but be universially despised, perhaps more for the overexposure than the actual quality of the music.

In that sense I think a very well known, media hyped band can still be underrated.

you're right, here's my list of underrated bands (according to your criteria):

Nickelback
Blink 182
Sum 41
Daughtry
Miley Cyrus
Simple Plan

This is your problem, MY criteria is all about my subjective opinion when measured against popular opinion.

That's what overrated and underrated means. You're trying to pass it off as an objective criteria which frankly, is bullsh*t.

Because I think those bands you listed are horrible, I consider them appropriately rated.

But because Incubus are one of my favorite bands and they're universally despised by everyone, including every other goddamn member of this forum, then of course I have the right to say they're underrated.
