this thread needs some love for...
Jawbox - early nineties post-hardcore/alternative that never made airwaves for some reason, which is a shame because they're both accessible and rather excellent. i think they're cited as part of the emo scene of the time, which i can't hear at all in their music, probably just from their attachment to the Dischord label. they bear resemblance to a hyper-melodic Fugazi, they've got their heavy moments and their light ones too but it all seems to mesh rather well:

Foals are extremely underrated, although they are amazing. Bloc Party are rediculously underrated too, but they are both more Indie. For Rock/Hardcore bands, I'd say Converge, Underoath.
The Mars Volta is also extremely underrated, and they're amazing. |
