I think that Blind Melon is a largely underrated band. All that most people know them for is being "the band with that song with the fat girl in the bee costume". But as much as I still have to say that I like "No Rain", it is by no means my favorite Blind Melon song. Nobody seems to realize that they came out with 2 more albums after their self-titled debut, and there are really good tunes on all of them.

Just kiddin'. Well, I find it strange that they would be found overrated, because I never really hear anything about them. |

I don't know if I would say that AIC was underrated. I think that they've had a great deal of well-earned success. Nirvana? Yeah, fairly overrated in my opinion, although I still have a small place in my heart for their sound. Of the four most popular grunge bands (Pearl Jam, AIC, Soundgarden and Nirvana) I think that I would have to say that the most overrated would probably be Pearl Jam, although I hear that they put on a great show.

from all the bands to come out of Seattle, Screaming Trees are incredibly underrated. Lanegan's collaborated with plenty of other artists over the years (including Cobain & AIC as well as QOTSA, among others) and had a pretty successful solo career too, but the Trees really don't get much respect. and it's true, they've been responsible for their fair share of shit (Sweet Oblivion was TERRIBLE) but Dust was one of the best records to come out of the nineties.
i think the Connor brothers went on to other stuff as well, one of 'em replaced Lou Barlow for a bit in DJR and i'm sure they've done other stuff as well, they were very talented.

Too many prog bands to count, but one that comes to mind right now.
The Strawbs They're a prog folk group. One of the defining bands of the genre, with a very country guitar sound. And yeah that's Rick Wakeman on the left, he was in the band before joining Yes. |
