I used to watch MTV in the mornings so I could listen to some music while getting ready for school, so sue me. And Pharrell is huge, he's a big time producer, doin stuff for Snoop and every person in the world (even the homeless).

Yeah, I used to do the same thing so there will be no suing. I know Pharrell is huge but he's not the only person in N*E*R*D*. Therefore, they are not as huge.

Trouble - Black Sabbath gone stadium rock. Tremendously infectious melodies, heavy riffs, tight playing and ragged vocals. Why so many users profess to be Sabbath junkies yet fail to give Trouble props is one of life's great mysterious.

Orange Goblin - Stoner rock thrashed up. Ingenious arrangements, prog-tendencies and impeccable guitar licks. High energy doom...an oxy-moron, yet the Goblins make it work.

Budgie - These’s guys created the lo-fi atheistic. Early 70's band that threw enough music ideas into a song that could fill an entire album, yet all the there albums sound like demos. Overshadowed at the time by exquisitely produced Zepplin albums, Budgie's 1st six albums pay huge rewards after repeated listening.

^ This guy's been responsible for at least a couple of the best, most hideously overlooked albums ever (no, My Aim Is True isn't one of them), and there's hardly any mention of him around here outside of my pretentious ramblings, let alone in the big, wide, offline world.

^ XTC are definitely one of Britain's finest, and you can hear their influence on so much music from the last 20-odd years. You'd think they'd be a lot more recognised, but I'm yet to meet anyone who's even heard of them (outside here of course).

^ Just kidding

Grady - I am obsessed with this band, but they're virtually unknown outside of Canada and Texas.

I think both XTC and Elvis Costello do get a fair amount of recognition, but it's among a very specific age group: people who are right now in their late 30s to mid 40s. My brother is in this age group (he's turning 40 this year) and both are definitely pretty huge and well-regarded in his social circles.

Speaking of people not being into these guys, I actually own nothing by XTC and have been meaning to remedy that for a long time. I don't suppose you could help me out? I'm particularly interested in whatever albums have "Making Plans for Nigel" and "Dear God" on them but anything would be much appreciated.

Thumbs up What is the most underrated Rock Band?

There are several out there, lets hear them...

I will immediately nominate Children Of Bodom, who, although very recently getting attention as Alexi Laiho(lead Guitarist/Lead vocals) will be named Guitar World Magazine's number 1 guitarist, are still terribly underrated. Every member is extremely talented at the wheel of their instruments, and their sound cannot be achieved without every one of them. Children of Bodom is a powerful force in underground metal and are incredibly loyal to their fans.

English Settlement & White Music are probably best to start with.
Then get Drums & Wires and Black Sea
Then get the rest
