What a load of bollocks
So then, I got this weeks NME. Special edition. 50 greatest heroes. Read the title of this thread and you will see my opinion on the issue. What's even worse is that it was the public who voted in this, not just a couple of magasine writers. So that means the public think that Pete Doherty is the second most inspirational person in music ever, and the lead singer from Franz Ferdinand was rated 20th, 2 places above Jimi Hendrix. Bull****. David Bowie below Carl Barat and ****ing Pete Doherty? David Bowie has more talent in his little finger. The public are twats, and I'm ashamed to be one of them.
**** talent, Pete Doherty does drugs and swears at journalists! How cool is that! **** off. |

NME is a good magazine, but obviously the public who voted in it are a bunch of twats. I can understand why old Pete Doherty would have been considered a hero, performing in peoples living rooms and all, but new Pete Doherty? **** off.

You realise most people who read NME are below the age of 18. The Libertines have been the defining band of their generation so far - so of course their going to latch onto Doherty. Nobody else in the industry has as much charisma at the moment..even if he is a prized twat.

Okay okay, so due to the age of the voters and all that I'll give you Pete Doherty. But Alex Kapranos? I was expecting to see Doherty quite high up (not as high up as 2nd but there you go) but the bloke from Franz Ferdinand? I wasn't even expecting him to be on the list.
