Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium
You must get this album. It's a double CD, and 90% of the songs are worthy of being Singles.
Check out a few songs: Dani California, We Believe, Hard to Concetrate, Wet Sand, She Looks To Me

Spectacular album. Another chunk of evolution for the band. I can't say that 90% of the tunes should be singles because the vast majority of people have to get hooked on them for it to be 'Single". Those kind of kids really pay attention to public reviews and formulate a spoonfed opinion. Wet Sand is my personal favorite. I like it so much I won't play it! With fears of the radio getting their grubby fingers on it, I can't burn that tune out. Death of a Martian, Slow Cheetah, Warlocks, ... tough squeeze for a top 5, but that has to be close for me.

So a band can't stick to a formula, they have to experiement with different sounds all the time?
Like GG Allin? |

Having half a hundred albums in one style and the other half in another isn't a very good example of diversity... And overall, GG was still a piss poor musician who used crazy shock antics to divert attention from his musical limitations, that's no secret.
Besides, when it comes to mixing punk and country... The Replacements did a helleva better job. I'm just saying, some bands try many styles, and if it works, that's great, and some bands just stick to one sound, there's nothing wrong with that either, if it's not broken don't fix it... It's just a bit unusual to criticize RHCP for making like 3 albums in a similar style while GG Allin has done around 20 albums that all sound alike. |
