it just doesnt happen and never will.
but have you heard these guys?,.,. sure hendrix could work his way around the penatonic scale, but these guys can take every note on the neck and make it scream, they make their guitars do the singing.,. i love hendrix as an innovator and musician, but as a guitarist there's much better out there,

Dime is teh greatest of all time. Some of you might be able to argue that a few guitarists have more knowledge and can do more technical tricks some some stupid **** but in teh end its all about about how their riffs and solos sound. Dimes riffs had a certain feel to them that almost no guitarists can match. Dime can give you goosebumps. Dime will go down in history as teh greatest guitar player ever. Rest in Peace Dime, go teach Jon Bonham how to handle his drinks.

Some other guitar players that kick ass that no one mentioned are Zack Wylde and Jerry Cantrell.and Kirk Hammet is amazing and desereves alot more respect then he gets.

I think most people spouting off have little technical idea of the skill it takes to use the kind of counterpuntal interplay that metallica uses, and its something rarely done by non-studio musicians.

Don't kid yourself. Kirk is mountains above both Angus and Slash, both of which are amazing, but Angus plays the blues primarily and the pentatonic (sp?) scale isn't that hard to master seeing as its only 5 notes. Slash deserves his credit, but he never cut the vicious instrumentals kirk did, and he played with Micheal Jackson. So shove that up your hardrock only ass.

well, i dont want put any of these nu-metal guitarists into the equation; they rely too much on distortion and sound effects, (guitarists from bands like staind, slipknot, linking park, system of a down, etc) these guitarists rely too much on distortion and pedal effects to be recognized. my friend, an accomplished guitar player himself, nicknamed the guitarists from these bands "2-fingered retards" because he claims that "a retard with 2 fingers could play their songs" but, remeber, i'm quoting my friend,so dont get mad at me! i'll stick to proven winners like the deceased dimebag darrel, kirk hammet, the guitarist from motorhead (whom i forgot the name), and van halen.
