i only read the first 6 or 7 pages and no one had even mentioned Dime!

The technical skill while still making it melodic is so impressive!

I don't think that anyone can rightfully name a "Best guitarist". There are so many different play styles and genres etc that its hard to truly name one who rises above the rest. No doubt there are guitarists who are legendary for their playing (Satch,Vai etc) but i don't think that there is one who is the greatest.

I'm not positive he's the official best guitarist ever, but I got to give a shout out to Alex Lifeson. I think he very talented has some really tasteful solos but gets looked over because... well come on, the other two band members are Geddy Lee and Neil Peart!

Lou reed? That's an interesting one. He was pretty good. If you're going to say lou, then I'm gonna have to say bob Dylan, who actually was a pretty talented fingerpicker.

But on a more serious note, I'll say hendirx. I know, there are so many more technical guitarists. But he was about as unique as one can get. He was the missing link in the evolution of guitarists. Everything he did was just so natural.

And I'll say mark knopfler, Chet Atkins, les Paul, django Reinhardt, buckethead, paco de Lucia, John McLaughlin, Santana, bb king.

I agree. Sterling Morrison was great. I listen to them a lot but I've never really been able to distinguish them apart. How do I know which is Lou? Sterling did all the lead playing, right?
