There is no doubt that Michael Romeo is one of the most skilled Guitarists in his genre. Fact is...that kind of shredding just bores a lot of people.

My opinion is that being the best guitarist should be purely judged on technical skill. since it can be quantified.
Beyond that, its all going to be a battle of wills anyway since other than technical skill you can't quantify anything about a musician other than whether you personally like it. Symphony X are my favourite band at this moment in time, Jeff Buckley is also one of my favourite musicians, as are Paul Gilbert, Hendrix, Ed Wynne and others. Fact of that though is that if we're asking best guitarist, Romeo blows them all out of the water bar Gilbert, who he edge it over imo, its just he writes music that appeals to a more limited audience. |
