EVH isn't just technically better. Hes more original and hes certainly top ten material on influence alone. And for the record. EVH and Malmsteens guitar styles have virtually nothing in common. |

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that John Frusciante is my favourite guitarist ever... even if I've probably already posted that.
For me, he is on another level of guitar playing. I listen to a shitload of music, but I always go back to this guy and his minimalist approach. Of course his work with RHCP is good and he had some nice funk guitar going on during BSSM. But there is a lot more to him. Apart from his popular solo albums, he had some 'drugged up' ones - one of these (Niandra Lades & Usually Just a T-Shirt), despite being a bit inaccessible, is really great - definitely my favourite stuff from his solo career. Also, his work with in Ataxia (a fairly minimalist band) and his contributions to the Mars Volta are good as well.

Well
i have a list of my favorite guitarists Eddie Van Halen-When he came out in the late 70's there was nothing like his playing style. Amazing i think. Jimmy Page-Cmon, its page Jimi-Thats a given right? But also Stevie Ray Vaughn-...Hes the only person who can succseessfully cover some Jimi...and do it justice
