Alex Lifeson could use a mention.

And while Robert Fripp may not be a metal guitarist, a lot of his riffs and solos can have a metal like feel/intensity to them.... For proof listen to THRAK.

I think he is, i don't consider Rush a metal band, but i consider Lifeson a metal guitarist.

I think I know where you're coming from...The fact that he is capable(sp?) of it..and that he has that sound that could easily transfer over to that genre
