so that would be like... 37th notes?
if its 4/4, then they would be 148th notes, since a 1/4 note would count as 1 beat, and an 1/8 as a 1/2 beat, so on so forth. Take 37 multiply it by 4 and you get a 148th note...

they would look wicked written out, the measures would have to be so huge to fit them in...

I STRONGLY dislike Dream Theater, but Petrucci is a damn talented player, theres no way you can deny that.

Anyway, some of his best stuff isnt even with Dream Theater, a lot of his best stuff is with Liquid Tension Experiement, most of their songs are instrumental, so you dont have to put up with the ****ty vocals like when listening to Dream Theater

malmsteen isn't as bad as you guys make him out to be. How many others out there are rippin of tchaikovsky on their fender strat? He's a talented guitarist any way you look at it, but not on the top 5 soloists probably. I have a couple videos of him live, they will blow you away I'm tellin ya, don't just listen to black star or some other song and rule him out. If you have limewire search for amazing acoustic solo by him, it really is amazing. Anyways, I'm tired of these best bla bla bla threads, so I'm going with my favorite soloists.

-Jimi Hendrix
-Jimmy Page
-Eric Clapton
-Duane Allman
-David Gilmour
-Chuck Berry
-Ry Cooder
-Neil Young
-Trey Anastasio
-Tom Morello
-Jerry Garcia

I guess that's sort of a long list, oh well...

I was afraid to say it, but I too dispise Dream Theater. It's one of those bands that have 1 really great member, and the rest of the band is crap, except the drummer is decent I suppose. They just never agreed with me a bit.

Scales make a good solo?...When?

Almost every David Gilmour solo is in the minor pentatonic, but i would take his beautful soloing over Michael Angelo Batios painful wankathons anyday...Wouldnt you?

Woah, thats like what I think except you can actually explain it.

Oh and Kashmir, Mike Portnoy is a prettty fabulous drummer. But like the band DT, he is no fun.
