yay for jazz, i know this is off topic but i was watching conan and this guy was playing and i can't remember his name but he played a song called "black coffee" i think and he was really good. it was all fingerpicking

im sure the guys in proach can't imporvise at all, but were gunna get back to what metal is or is not. Metal guys improvise very well.

whats legato style? Jazz or metal? either of them can easily go stacato at the dop of a hat...

It depends, some can, like Marty Friedman and Randy Rhoads, but others like Dave Mustaine and Zack Wylde cant improv at all.
