Andy McKee is so good its unnatural. His style is very unique and has a very calming quality to it. I really like the drum tapping stuff he does and his picking work is out of this world. I cant help but just gaze and space out watching him play becuase its so mesmirizing and unbelievable. Other worthy mentions: D. Boon, Jimi Hendrix

McKee and Legg are outstanding, but there's something to be said about a guy who can pull out some Becker and non-chalantly play it to a tee:
Jeff Loomis- Perpetual Burn (Jason Becker Cover) - YouTube Thought he deserved a mention here.

I usually place musicianship below what is actually produced by the musician, but Angelo somehow maintains being an amazing gypsy jazz player, and coming out with really amazing guitar pieces I can admire because of the amazing songwriting. |

It's hard to tell who could be the best guitarist. Personnally, I really love those guitarists who try to instaure new ways to play an instrument.
For me and obviously almost all of guitarists, Jimi Hendrix is on the top. After this I really love Tom Morello and his skills to scratch on the guitar. For the insane sound effects and search about the effects pedals, I put Agata from Melt Banana in my top 3. And to finish, the acoustic guitarist I consider he's the best is Erik Mongrain. Like others fingerstyle guitarist, he has some awesome percussive skills and an outstanding left hand/right hand coordination. But what I really like in his style is that it is really full of emotion and deeply searched. It's dark, beautiful and it makes me trip. |
