This ends right now, see this right here? This is you asserting the fact that a guitarist "sucks". Your opinions are not valid anymore... go away.

Also, I nominate Derek Bailey, another master of funky, atonal improvisation.

if you want my $0.02

Haino is just doing his own thing, who am I to judge him?

Clapton panders to the masses, who am I to judge also?

but as for something I like, I prefer Thurston and Lee, who can write pretty good music while interjecting noise into it

I should have said the exception was "My Only Friend". I did find that song quite pleasant and if he has any albums that are that listenable I'd certainly like to know their names.

You got it.

On a different note, i would like to nominate Jonny Greenwood as the best guitar player. He's got crazy swag.

His album Koko would be your best bet. It's melodic, calm, and atmospheric.

I'll also state that Sir Richard Bishop was brought up, and listened to 'While my Guitar Violently Bleeds' simply on this topic's suggestion. Very awesome.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.

Get hold of Fingering the Devil too, his guitar work is sublime on that.

Everyone, just drop it... The discussion's over.

Also... I love Derek Bailey as well, and that video in particular really shows how funny and sociable of a man he is. It's also interesting just to see how he plays... considering he has such a unique style of playing the guitar.
