I have no idea if this is an iTunes issue or something else, but my ****ing iPod won't scrobble to last.fm. Any idea what would cause it? And would foobar fix it? I'm really thinking about moving to that or Media Monkey.

Have you tried downloading the latest ipod scrobbler from last.fm?

I think I have it, not sure why it isn't working I just got a new iPod, but that doesn't explain why it worked with my old one and not this. It says scrobbling iPod plays, but maybe it's just going to my iTunes? Thinking back, I did have a virus at one point and start fresh. It's quite possible I'm just being a dumbass and I never put it back on there.

It's probably registering everything, just not scrobbling it. You could try closing your program and the last.fm client, then start your program again and play a song. Check your page and see if you suddenly get a whole bunch of scrobbles!

I've had the exact same problem. When I first got Last.fm, I think I had my old iPod plugged in or something which probably would have worked for that to scrobble, but I didn't get a chance to use that one before I started using my new one. Is that the problem, or is it just my messed up computer do you think?

edit: I'll just try what Tore suggested.

Should I stick with Winamp or move onto something else?

I think you might even be able to skip closing itunes. Closing the last.fm client and reopening it has always worked for me.

i've used iTunes since I got my first ipod (around 5 years now) and have had stints with mediamonkey, songbird, foobar, winamp but have always come back to iTunes. Don't have any problems with it really, so i see no need to switch and figure out another way to sync my iPod.

itunes looks quite nice, and even though it is very short on features, i would consider using it but for one massive problem - album art. i like to have 700x700 album art for all my music, and if i want to use it with itunes, i have to embed the image in every single track. this increases the size of my collection by more than a gigabyte, which simply will not do.

with foobar, i keep one copy of the cover scan in each album's folder. then when i sync with my ipod, it gets re-sized and embedded on the fly. perfect.
