That's good - Porcupine Tree is easily one of my favourite bands ever.

They appeal to quite a lot to alternative rockers, not just prog rockers.

I was taken by a friend to see them live last week - they have a couple of good singles but I really wasn't taken by the rest of the set - too incoherent and too much stage showmanship for the sake of it. Still, plenty of potential and the singer's got a good voice.

The think I love about them is the mix of heavy guitar and light vocals, they contrast the two really well

Yeah Steve Wilson is a champion, I really like his writing and vocals. I find Trains takes that contrast you described a step further and has soft acoustic guitar which transforms into a heavy wave of guitar. It interchanges between the tempos beautifully.

Deadwing is an amazing album too, should you want to check them out some more.

Te' - Awesome Japanese post rock. Haven't listented to the whole album yet.

Big Business - Very cool, after hearing Head For The Shallow you can definitely hear their sound in the recent Melvins album. Warren sounds just like Osbourne too.

Air - Pretty cool chill music, enjoyng the few songs I've gotten around to listening to lately.

Blame Summer
They're a totally kick ass punk band from Philly. I love them. A friend of mine knows the guys so she took me to watch them rehearse and they're really really great.

there`s a spot in myspace an
echo a shudder that in my head did vibrate
left bothered my timing that my feet led me astray
across the borders through an army fence to the sound of a nightingale
then to discover as i awake a brace of chains round my feet hands and waist
staring into a tortures face
ain`t that a twisted tale
