its bad on the whole but it cant be prevented, so its gonna need working around, so bands dont loose too much cash, especially those that dont sell loads of records

The fuss really isn't about money not going to the artist but money not going to the record company.

Artists make very little of their money off album sales, they make much, much more off ticket sales.

When I was in my teens, I always bought albums. I had no other responsibility, so I sank my money into music. Albums were 5-7 dollars.

Today, though, with the addition of kids, wife, bills, mortgage, etc, I simply can't go plunk down 20 bucks every week for music that may or may not be any good.

I use downloading as a tool, to see if I am willing to invest, legitimately, in an artist's work.

As an example, I'd always dabbled around with blues, but never really listened to it extensively, other than what I could catch on the college radio station. So, after hearing a few different artists, I would download some of their stuff, and burn it, and give it a test drive for a few weeks, see if it grew on me. I now own a ton of legitimate store bought blues cds that I enjoy, as opposed to owning maybe 1/2 dozen or so and quitting because I felt as though I'd been ripped off.

music - under certain circumstances is just. e.g your skint or cant find the album anywhere.

pornography - just try and stop me.

i think downloading is awesome. you can find stuff, that you can't find in stores. and bands charge a bloody mint while on tour for tickets, merchandise, whatever.
and if you say, oh well if people stopped downloading their cd's then they wouldn't have to charge so much, but thats total sh-it

my parents went to pleanty of shows back in the 70's and the bands then charged just as much. SO DOWNLOAD ALL YOU WANT!
