im gonna say blues, it gave way to so many other genres and even though it's not my favourite i'd say it was the greatest genre invented. i just don't see how people can vote for indie:S it's just such an insignificant genre in comparison with so many others.

There's so many great genres (read: subgenres) out there that it's pretty moronic to pick just one as "the greatest" but here's a couple of my favorites for the last two or so years:
Post-Punk Avant-Jazz Noise Rock Math Rock Alternative Rock (read: 80-90's indie rock ala Husker Du, not post-grunge) Punk RAWK! Kraut Rock Blues Rock and... prog... which I'm going to use as a broad term to describe everything from Frank Zappa to Captain Beefheart to Mr. Bungle to King Crimson. |
