Nirvana is a cliche but hey they are one point in the U.S.'s favor for the last 25 years I think.

Then again so is Oasis for the U.K. And Coldplay, Amy Winehouse, Radiohead, etc. etc.

Hard to argue the U.K. doesn't rule the rock scene.

Their Hip-Hop is absolute crap though.

I'm not talking about Creed, or Nickelback, or Godsmack, or any of that other garbage that grunge spawned. I'm talking about the real stuff. Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Temple of the Dog, Mad Season, Nirvana. The list goes on.

Did it go a little overboard in popularity? Sure, yeah. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is one overplayed song. But you can't deny that Superunknown, Ten, and Dirt are some of the best rock albums ever produced. Especially in the last 20 years.

To me there a big detraction.
Music would not exist it it's current form without those three bands. The Beatles and Zeppelin in particular.

Some people just aren't that into Grunge.. so they can deny it's one of the best rock albums of the last 20 years if they don't give a shit about the genre.

That's ignorant and subjective. Detach yourself and look at the bigger picture every once in a while.

I don't even like The Beatles that much, but they're still one of the best bands of all time.

You hate how The Pixies are put under that label but it's okay to put Smashing Pumpkins under it? Pixies and SP aren't grunge at all.

Well I love The Pixies.
I like SP but not enough to get pissed about their genre classification.

Not bothered if either are classed as Grunge, I have nothing against Grunge. But they are both just not Grunge.
