Animal Collective, Deerhoof, The Fiery Furnaces, My Morning Jacket, Xiu Xiu, Sonic Youth, The Flaming Lips, Blonde Redhead, Black Dice, Microphones/Mt. Eerie are all just as good and just as experimental. If you wanted to take into account bands that aren't really similar to Radiohead, that list would be much longer.

Radiohead started out as a Britpop band (Pablo Honey, The Bends) that turned more experimental as time went on.

You asked for a very specific type of band. But to continue with bands similar to TV On the Radio and all that: Ratatat, Liars, Out Hud, !!!, Q & Not U, Zongamin, etc.

Well it may be but I think he`s only seeing the tip of the iceberg.

You have to understand British culture.Until very recently Britain only had one national pop/rock radio station and 4 TV channels. Most of them owned by the BBC. The BBC used to have a mandate saying on radio that they had to play a certain amount of live music on air. Obviously the way that worked was you`d get reletively new bands to fill this.So that meant that new bands were always getting prime time exposure.
It also meant that unlike the U.S. you didn`t have seperate stations for rock music , for soul , for hip hop etc etc.You had to make do with just the one.As a result British artists have grown up experiencing that and being exposed to different music and I think thats always shown in the music played by British artists.

I don't agree with that. The only reason it seems that way is because your bands get more recognition over there than our original bands do over here. The fact that most people don't even know that Punk started in New York and most don't know who Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, and others are should tell you a lot about how much pride Americans take in their music.

Well no , I asked you to name a band that mixes 5 or 6 different genres of music into their sound , and then named a few British bands who do this.
If your answer has The Liars in it all I can suggest is you`re clutching at straws.

Then I misinterpreted what you said.

And I doubt you'll be saying that when you hear Liars' new album.

So you're complaining that American artists aren't experimental enough, and now you're saying that a Dance Punk band that turned to Electronic, Noise and Prog is bad? They Were Wrong, So We Drowned was one of the best albums of 04. Far better than any of these awful Libertines wannabes coming out of Britain right now, anyway.

I see nothing experimental about them.

Another guitar band using early 80s new wave as a template for it`s sound.

YAWN , not heard THAT before
