Please explain: Why do you dislike U2/Bono??
I'm curious as to why so many people on MB seem to dislike U2 and Bono. U2 have been one of my favourite groups for years. I love their music and I think they are all very talented.
Without making derogatory or patronising comments, please explain to me why you dislike U2 or Bono. I'm sure you won't be able to change my mind about them, but I really am curious as to why they are so unpopular in MB world.

1. His constant morality preaching
2. Everything they`ve ever recorded from 1985 onwards 3. His constant sucking up to world leaders 4. The Joshua Tree , the 2nd most overrated album of all time 5. Having to hear Beautiful Day everytime I watched football for 2 years 6. His mullet at Live Aid 7. How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb being praised to high heaven when even the most diehard U2 fans I know say it`s sh*t 8. Those f*cking I-pod ads 9. I hate being being told to donate money by multi millionaires 10. Brian Eno could have been working on his own albums instead of producing their crap. 11.Their first 5 or 6 albums sound identical 12. Their drummer was screwing Naomi Campbell , one of the most loathesome women on the planet. 13. Bono sueing a woman over a hat he`s not worn for 20 years. 14. Bono throwing a hissy fit over his line on the band aid record 15. He`s friends with Coldplay 16. Their music just makes me want to throw up hope this helps

First off I only own How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. It is awful. And nearly every other song I've heard from them is awful. So as musicians I dislike them. But I have to disagree with Urban on some other counts. Such as the hat. The woman shouldn't have stole it-regardless of his millions or not, stealing is wrong and it's the principle of having the hat stolen that matters. Secondly, a bad haircut isn't a good excuse to hate someone. And he donated money to Live Aid himself, but he can't feed Africa all by himself. He needs everyones help, not just his own.
But yes I hate the music. So I dislike U2 the band, but not as people. I did however hear a rumour that a percentage of the proceeds from their albums go to the IRA-true or false? |

I like pre-1985 U2 material. War and Boy being my favourite albums, it all started to go wrong when they tried to break America though.

If you don't like U2 and have only heard recent material, listen to 'New Year's Day', 'Twilight' and 'Like a Song'.
