Most influential Individual in Music (genre, beatles, miles davis, elvis presley)

Who is the the most influential person in music...EVER? Now it has to be one person, so if you want to vote for a band you're going to have to narrow it down to who out of that band is the most influential.

I'm going to have to say John Lennon. I've only heard a couple of songs from him as it's not really my style of music, but nearly all my favourite bands list him or The Beatles as their reason for getting into the business.

Not particularly. I'm not that interested in John Lennon but I recognise what he has done for the music business.

I can't believe yu can't write Marvin's surname. Since when is ***e, or g'a'y'e a curse word? that is ridiculous!! Sort it out. What about Gloria ***nor as well? And Michelle ***le?

Arguably it has to be Elvis Presley, as far as modern music is concerned.
No Elvis...no John Lennon...no Beatles etc.

Having said that...it's a tough one and I'd like to see an argument for just one individual.

You could argue for one artist for each genre, but for music in general...

I love Lou Reed, brings back memories of first year at Uni.

Most influential in my opinion is James Brown. He took the soul and gospel music of the day and transformed it, influencing many artists in many different genres to this day.

It's interesting how gospel music was so inspiring considering it's religious context. I actually quite enjoy it though.

Old school gospel isn't bad but modern gospel is, if you'll pardon the pun, godawful.
